The incident involving a man who killed his mother in Ebonyi State has drawn significant attention due to the unusual reason given for the act. The suspect, identified as Oforbuike Damian, was arraigned for allegedly killing his mother, Mrs Onyema Damian, over her refusal to bathe him. The court proceedings revealed that the defendant had no legal representation and admitted to the offence, stating, "I don’t know what really happened, but I can remember that I killed her over her refusal to bathe me." The Chief Magistrate, Chinedu Agama, ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional centre, as the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter. The case was adjourned to April 9, 2026, for further proceedings.
